Meet Our Founders:
Keetha Mohan (née Sellathurai) and Sashi Aravinth (née Sellathurai) are the visionary forces behind Arunodhaya Dance Academy, an esteemed institution dedicated to preserving and advancing the art of Bharatanatyam. With a shared passion for dance and education, they have nurtured a new generation of artists through rigorous training, innovative choreography, and a deep commitment to tradition.
Both Keetha and Sashi completed their Arangetram in 1992 in Toronto, Canada, and received specialized training under Gurus Mr. and Mrs. Thomas from the renowned Kalakshetra Foundation in the summer of 1997 from Chennai. Sashi has also successfuly completed the teacher training summer residency course at Kala Bharati Foundation in 2003. Both sisters rigorous training in the Kalakshetra style of Bharatanatyam with Mr. and Mrs. Thomas has shaped their teaching philosophy, emphasizing precision, grace, and expressive storytelling.
Under their leadership, Arunodhaya Dance Academy has successfully presented three Arangetrams, with many more in progress. Their commitment extends beyond performances, as they have integrated the Alagappa Fine Arts certification curriculum, ensuring that students receive internationally recognized qualifications.
Together, they have created a space where Bharatanatyam thrives—not just as an art form but as a discipline that instills grace, resilience, and cultural pride.
